Sakai Man

Founded in 1863 during the Bunkyū era, this long-established ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant) is now run by the sixth generation, who continue the legacy of its authentic flavors and techniques. Originally a catering restaurant, the fourth generation recognized the potential of "hamo" (pike eel) and created the "Hamo Course," which quickly gained popularity. Notable figures like Jun'ichirō Tanizaki and the 14th generation of Kataoka Nizaemon have visited this renowned establishment. In Kansai, when people mention "Sakai Man," everyone immediately thinks of its exquisite hamo dishes. With the skillful technique of cutting the bones while leaving a thin layer of skin, the restaurant serves a variety of dishes, from hamo somen (noodles) as an appetizer to a clear soup made with hamo bones, and delicate sashimi.
